With that in mind, I propose the following code, whose aim is to provide designers a set of ground rules for how they deal with clients as well as the users of the system.

A Gamification Code of Ethics – Updated November 2015
- Honesty
- Be honest with both users and clients.
- Make clients aware that Gamification is not a magic bullet. In most cases it is a long term investment.
- Do not use gamification as a way to dishonestly gather information that a user would not freely give up under other circumstances.
- Do not use gamification as a way to manipulate users into doing things that go against accepted social or their personal moral or ethical boundries.
