Hey Andrzej, found your blog entry linked to the blog entry you shared with me (@yGamification) on twitter. Thank you very much for writing this post! I think you are right that community is very important for brand loyalty. Saying so, you kill one of the last brand advertising thoughts of the last century: brands are no longer making promises that they will never keep but have to share information about their products and accept and react to the customer feedback. This way, a community is created which the brand responsibles are part of. So there is no “one sender, x receivers” thing like in TV anymore but a “x senders, x receivers” community which can helpt the brand responsibles to make their products better and better and amazing and perfect. Which leads to even more customers because the products are getting better, the community is great and members of the community share their favors with their friends. Just reading a book about this by a german digital native called Philipp Riederle (“Who we are and what we want”, don’t know if it is available in English now).
Have a great day & May the force be with you,
    Chris

Agree with you. Badges and Leaderboards alone don’t get you engaged and I do see a lot of the gamified websites are just working until the novelty is gone. As a brand or person you have to engage with your customer or fans in a different way. The game mechanics are just helping you in getting more returning visitors. But when you miss out the opportunity to engage with them in the right way, it won’t work long term.

Will check out Picnic, thanks for mentioning some news content/idea
